TBC Classic Retribution Paladin Guide

Introduction

Every raid will want at least one Retribution Paladin because of the utility provided by
    Improved Seal of the Crusader
    and
    Sanctity Aura
. While they are typically found towards the bottom of the DPS charts, a Retribution Paladin that has mastered Seal Twisting can make up a lot of ground.

TBC Classic Retribution Paladin Rotation

Your goal as a Retribution Paladin is to empower your
    Auto Attack
by Seal Twisting while weaving in spells when possible, primarily
    Crusader Strike
    and
    Judgement
    (details below).

Single Target

  1. Use
    Sanctity Aura
    .
  2. Use
    Avenging Wrath
    .
  3. Maintain
    Seal of the Crusader
    Judgement
debuff, this will be refreshed constantly with
    Auto Attack
    .
  4. If
    Seal of Command R1
    is active, use
    Seal of Blood
    right before an
    Auto Attack
    to Seal Twist (details below).
  5. Use
    Crusader Strike
    .
  6. Use
    Judgement
    , followed by
    Seal of Command R1
if you will have enough time to Seal Twist.
  7. Use
    Exorcism
if the target is Undead or Demon.
  8. Use
    Consecration
    if you have extra mana.
  9. Use
    Hammer of Wrath
on targets that are below 20% health AND not in melee range.

AoE

  1. Use
    Consecration
    .
  2. Use
    Holy Wrath
if targets are Undead or Demons.
  3. Perform single target rotation.

Seal Twisting

  • Seal Twisting is the process of activating a new Seal when one already exists right before your
    Auto Attack
. This only works if the initial seal is either
    Seal of Command
    or
    Seal of Righteousness
. There is a small window where both Seals will active at the same time, granting your
    Auto Attack
    the benefit from both.
  • Seal Twisting Example

  • Use
    Seal of Command R1
  • Use
    Seal of Blood
    right before you
    Auto Attack
  • Use
    Crusader Strike
  • Use
    Auto Attack
  • Use
    Judgement
    and repeat steps 1-4
  • Important Notes

  • Download a swing timer add-on.
  • Sometimes you will need to delay using
    Crusader Strike
by less than a second to prioritize Seal Twisting.
  • Only use
    Judgement
if you will have enough time to use both
    Seal of Command R1
    and
    Seal of Blood
    before you
    Auto Attack
    .

TBC Classic Retribution Paladin Aldor or Scryer

We recommend going Aldor as a Retribution Paladin in TBC Classic. The Aldor shoulder enchant,
    Greater Inscription of Vengeance
, is slightly better than the Scryer
    Greater Inscription of the Blade
. Aldor also provides a quest that rewards
    Overseer's Signet
, your bis ring for Pre-Raid gearing.
