TBC Classic Protection Warrior Guide

NEW

Our Classic Wrath of the Lich King Protection Warrior Class Guide is now live!

Introduction

Protection Warriors have great mitigation cooldowns thanks to
    Shield Wall
    and
    Last Stand
. They can also bring some important raid debuffs with
    Demoralizing Shout
    and
    Thunder Clap
    .

TBC Classic Protection Warrior Rotation

Single Target

  1. Maintain
    Improved Demoralizing Shout
    and
    Improved Thunder Clap
    if you have these talents.
  2. Use
    Bloodrage
if you need rage and can afford the health loss.
  3. Use
    Shield Slam
    .
  4. Use
    Revenge
    .
  5. Use
    Devastate
    .
  6. Use
    Shield Block
. If you are safe and need rage you can hold off on using this.
  7. Use
    Heroic Strike
    to dump extra rage.
  8. Use
    Shield Bash
    if
    Revenge
is on cooldown and you don't have enough rage to
    Devastate
    .
  9. Use
    Shield Wall
    ,
    Last Stand
    , and
    Spell Reflection
    when appropriate.

AoE

  1. Same as single target, but
    Thunder Clap
gains priority over everything and you can use
    Cleave
    instead of
    Heroic Strike
    to dump extra rage.
  2. Thunder Clap
has a cooldown, so you will still need to use single target abilities to gain threat. TAB targeting will help you keep aggro on everything.
  3. Use
    Challenging Shout
if you need help with threat for large pulls.

TBC Classic Protection Warrior Aldor or Scryer

We recommend going Aldor as a Protection Warrior in TBC Classic. The Aldor shoulder enchant,
    Greater Inscription of Warding
, is better than the Scryer
    Greater Inscription of the Knight
in the long term when you reach the defense cap more easily. Aldor also has a great early game chest, the
    Vindicator's Hauberk
    .
