TBC Classic Combat Rogue Guide

Introduction

Combat is the go-to PvE spec for Rogues. They will struggle to stay competitive in damage early on, but will make up some ground in the later tiers of the expansion. This spec shines in short fights because of their powerful cooldowns, namely
    Adrenaline Rush
    and
    Blade Flurry
    .

TBC Classic Combat Rogue Rotation

Your goal as a Combat Rogue is to maintain 100% uptime on
    Slice and Dice
    and either 5pt
    Expose Armor
    or high uptime on
    Rupture
depending on your assignment. The Combo Point cycles mentioned below are rough guidelines. You will often need to adjust on the fly based on procs, cooldowns, and consumables.

Single Target

  1. Maintain
    Slice and Dice
    (Details in next section).
  2. Maintain
    Rupture
    (Details in next section).
  3. Use
    Garrote
    while stealthed.
  4. Use
    Blade Flurry
    and
    Adrenaline Rush
    when available.
  5. Use
    Sinister Strike
    to generate combo points.
  6. Use
    Eviscerate
when you have excess combo points and
    Slice and Dice
    or
    Rupture
don't need to be refreshed. This usually happens during
    Adrenaline Rush
    .
  7. Use
    Envenom
    instead of
    Eviscerate
if the target is seconds away from dying, it does more damage but consumes your
    Deadly Poison
    .
  8. Use
    Shiv
    if your
    Deadly Poison
stacks are about to fall off.

AoE

  1. Use
    Blade Flurry
    .
  2. Perform single target rotation.

Combo Point Cycle

  1. Combat Rogues without T4 2pc should use a 3, 4, or 5 combo point
    Slice and Dice
    and a 5 combo point
    Rupture
    cycle.
  2. Combat Rogues with T4 2pc should use a 1 or 2 combo point
    Slice and Dice
    and a 5 combo point
    Rupture
    cycle.
  3. Combat Rogues who are tasked with keeping
    Improved Expose Armor
up, should follow a 4 or 5 combo point
    Slice and Dice
    and 5 combo point
    Expose Armor
cycle, while using 2 or 3 combo point
    Rupture
    when possible.

TBC Classic Combat Rogue Aldor or Scryer

We recommend going Aldor as a Combat Rogue in TBC Classic. The Aldor shoulder enchant,
    Greater Inscription of Vengeance
, is slightly better than the Scryer
    Greater Inscription of the Blade
. Aldor also provides an excellent early game weapon, the
    Vindicator's Brand
    .
