trial of the grand crusader Boss Guides - Wrath Classic (WOTLK)

Beasts of NorthrendBeasts of Northrend
Gormok
  • Casters stay atleast 15 yards away from Gormok to avoid
    Staggering Stomp
    .
  • Tanks taunt off each other to deal with
    Impale
    damage.
  • Kill Snobold Vassals. They spawn every 20% health lost on a random player. Ranged should bring them to Melee.
  • Avoid
    Fire Bomb
    from Snobold Vassals.
Acidmaw and Dreadscale
  • One worm is mobile, the other is stationary. They switch states after burrowing.
  • The mobile worm will only apply it's debuff to it's Tank. Tanks must kite the worm that is mobile.
  • The stationary worm puts it's debuff on a random group of players.
  • Dreadscale will always start out mobile, Acidmaw will always start out stationary.
  • If you get hit by
    Paralytic Spray
, run to the Dreadscale Tank. They will have a debuff called Burning Bile that will remove it.
  • When Dreadscale is mobile, and you get hit with
    Burning Spray
, run to the Tank who is on Acidmaw to remove their Paralytic Toxin caused by
    Paralytic Bite
    .
  • Stay spread as best as you can without being too far away from Dreadscale so the Paralytic Toxin doesn't freeze you.
  • Kill Acidmaw first and don't stand in front of the worms.
Icehowl
  • Melee DPS can stand max melee range to avoid
    Whirl
    .
  • Spread out to mitigate damage from
    Arctic Breath
    .
  • Healers watch for spike damage on Tanks from
    Ferocious Butt
    .
  • Healers top everyone off after
    Arctic Breath
    so players don't die from
    Massive Crash
. Avoid Icehowl if he charges at you.
Notes
  • On Heroic, each phase is on a timer. The next boss can spawn before the previous one dies.
  • If you have a Paladin, they can
    Hand of Protection
    off the
    Impale
debuff during the Phase 2 transition.
Lord Jaraxxus
Summary
  • Tank Jaraxxus in the center of the room.
  • Spread out around him to help deal with
    Fel Lightning
    .
  • Interrupt
    Fel Fireball
    .
  • Dispel
    Nether Power
    .
  • On Heroic, kill the
    Nether Portal
    s and
    Infernal Eruption
    s as quickly as possible.
  • Kill the Mistress of Pain that spawns from the
    Nether Portal
or the Infernals that spawn from
    Infernal Eruption
    .
  • On Heroic, the Mistress of Pain gains
    Mistress's Kiss
    .
  • Healers pump heals into players inflicted with
    Incinerate Flesh
    .
  • Run towards the edge of the room if targeted by
    Legion Flame
    .
  • On Heroic, Jaraxxus will also gain access to
    Touch of Jaraxxus
. Another reason to stay spread out.
Notes
  • Paladins can use
    Fire Resistance Aura
    to help mitigate raid damage.
  • Mages can
    Spellsteal
    Nether Power
    from Jaraxxus.
  • If you get inflicted with
    Mistress's Kiss
, cast a spell from a non-primary school to trigger it.
Faction Champions
Summary
  • Try to start the fight with and AoE fear from a Warrior if possible, to pop the trinkets on the NPCs.
  • The NPC's will reset their aggro table throughout the fight, so you must be prepared to kite, and use defensive cooldowns to survive if you are not a Tank.
  • Recommended kill order is the Restoration Shaman, Discipline Priest, then the Rogue.
  • After these 3 are dead, focus down the rest of the Melee NPCs, while CCing the rest of them.
  • All players should be using all available Crowd Control available to them to help control the fight, especially early on when things are most hectic.
  • Healers watch out for players targeted by the Rogue.
Val'kyr Twins
Summary
  • Lightbane and Darkbane share the same health pool.
  • Split the raid into two. Half attune to the light buff, and half attune to the dark buff.
  • The light buff half will be damaging Darkbane, and the dark buff half will be damaging Lightbane.
  • All players should do their best to soak the Concentrated Essences moving around the room. Soak the same color that your are attunened with, and avoid the other color.
  • Once you soak enough Concentrated Essences, you will gain
    Empowered Darkness
    or
    Empowered Light
depending on what color you soaked.
  • The bosses share two abilities
    Dark Vortex
    /
    Light Vortex
    and
    Shield of Darkness
    /
    Shield of Lights
    .
  • For
    Dark Vortex
    /
    Light Vortex
, swap colors to match the boss casting it. Swap back after the cast is finished.
  • For
    Shield of Darkness
    /
    Shield of Lights
, swap colors opposite of the boss and break the shield so you can interrupt
    Twin's Pact
    , then switch back.
  • When one of the bosses uses
    Shield of Darkness
    /
    Shield of Lights
, the other boss will gain
    Power of the Twins
, so that Tank will need focus healing.
  • On Heroic, they each gain an ability called
    Touch of Darkness
    /
    Touch of Light
. As long as your dark and light players are separated from each other, this won't pose a threat.
Notes
  • There is a strategy called the Doorway Strategy. Instead of having the entire raid soak the Orbs, you assign 2-3 soakers to handle the Orbs, and the rest of the raid stacks where the entrance to the raid is.
  • Paladins can use
    Fire Resistance Aura
    and
    Shadow Resistance Aura
    to help mitigate raid damage.
Anub'arak
Phase 1
  • Assign a DPS to kill the floating Frost Spheres to spawn
    Permafrost
    on the ground.
  • On Heroic, you are limited to 6 Frost Spheres, on normal they will respawn.
  • Heal players inflicted with
    Penetrating Cold
. and watch out for spike damage on the Tank caused by
    Freezing Slash
    .
  • Off Tank(s) pick up the Nerubian Burrowers (2 in Normal, 4 in Heroic) and tank them near Anub'arak so they can be cleaved.
  • Tank Nerubian Burrowers on top of
    Permafrost
    to prevent them from using
    Submerge
    .
  • Nerubian Burrowers apply
    Expose Weakness
    , and on Heroic gain
    Shadow Strike
    . Interrupt this cast.
Phase 2
  • Phase 2 starts when Anub'arak burrows into the ground.
  • Kill Scarabs. They will pursue random targets and randomly become enraged, increasing attack speed, and becoming immune to slows and stuns.
  • If you are Pursued by Anub'arak, you must try to kite the
    Pursuing Spikes
as long as possible before standing on
    Permafrost
    .
  • Once Anub'arak reaches you, he will cast
    Impale
, but this will fail if he is beneath a
    Permafrost
patch, but it will consume it.
Phase 3
  • Starts at 30% Health.
  • Anub'arak uses
    Leeching Swarm
for the rest of the fight.
  • Healers must do their best to keep players alive, without healing them too much, since
    Leeching Swarm
leeches the target's current health every second, you want players to remain under 50% HP.
  • On Heroic, Anub'arak will continue spawning Nerubian Burrowers.
  • Save
    Bloodlust
    for this phase.
Notes
  • Paladins can use
    Hand of Protection
on layers who are pursued by Anub'arak in Phase 2 to make that player immune to
    Pursuing Spikes
. Try using this right before a
    Permafrost
patch on the ground, then right before it runs out, run into the patch. Doing this will lower the amount of players Anub'arak pursues in Phase 2, which will help keep
    Permafrost
available for the rest of the fight.
