These guides are based on simulation data, tools, and theorycrafting from original Cataclysm. We'll be sure to update them when modern sims are finished. Rotations are likely to get optimized via sims, but it should already give you a very strong starting point.

Introduction

    Holy Paladins don't bring any raid buffs specific to their specialization, but all Paladins still bring
    Blessing of Might
    and
    Blessing of Kings
    for Attack Power, MP5, and Base Stat buffs. They also bring an Armor buff with
    Devotion Aura
    , and Spell Pushback reduction with
    Concentration Aura
    .

Cataclysm Classic Holy Paladin Rotation

    Paladins gain a new mechanic Holy Power which can be used to cast new spells
    Word of Glory
    and
    Light of Dawn
    . They also gain an incredible AoE heal with
    Holy Radiance
    , and they have an abundance of cooldowns at their disposal that allows them to have an answer for nearly every situation.

Priority

  1. Maintain your assigned Aura.
  2. Use
    Seal of Insight
    .
  3. Maintain
    Judgements of the Pure
    with
    Judgement
    .
  4. Maintain
    Beacon of Light
    , usually on the tank.
  5. Use
    Divine Plea
    during low damage windows, or if you need the mana.
  6. Cast
    Light of Dawn
    to consume Holy Power for most situations.
    Word of Glory
    will mainly be used for emergency single target heals.
  7. Cast
    Holy Shock
    if you have a
    Daybreak
    proc, to generate Holy Power and
    Infusion of Light
    procs, if you're moving, or if you need to heal someone faster than a
    Holy Light
    cast.
  8. Cast
    Holy Radiance
    , ideally used with the
    Infusion of Light
    buff for AoE healing.
  9. Cast
    Divine Light
    for large single target damage. Ideally with the
    Infusion of Light
    buff.
  10. Only cast
    Flash of Light
    only if you need to heal someone faster than a
    Divine Light
    /
    Holy Light
    cast and
    Holy Shock
    is on cooldown.
  11. Cast
    Holy Light
    in all other situations.
  12. Cast
    Crusader Strike
    to generate an emergency Holy Power if
    Holy Shock
    is on cooldown.
  13. During downtime or if you need mana, melee attack with
    Seal of Insight
    .
